Our team was commissioned to carry out a complete external insulation and rendering upgrade on this attractive four-bedroom semi-detached home in Barnehurst. The goal was to improve the property’s energy efficiency and give the exterior a refreshed, contemporary look while maintaining its character.
We installed a 50mm EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) insulation system across all elevations to significantly enhance thermal performance. This lightweight yet robust insulation helps reduce heat loss and contributes to lower energy costs, while providing a smooth, stable surface ready for the render system.
Over the insulation, we applied a Johnstone’s reinforced base coat, strengthened with fibreglass mesh to add flexibility and prevent cracking. This formed a reliable foundation, ensuring long-lasting adhesion and durability.
The final layer featured a Johnstone’s 1.5mm enhanced silicone render, selected for its exceptional weather resistance, breathability, and smooth, modern appearance. The finish not only protects the property from the elements but also delivers a sleek, low-maintenance façade that enhances kerb appeal.
As part of the transformation, we also fitted new window sills and modern downpipes, providing a neat, uniform finish that ties the whole design together.
The result is a beautifully updated home that combines improved energy efficiency, long-term durability, and a stylish new exterior — perfectly suited to the property’s surroundings in Barnehurst.
