Basecoat & Silicone Render Systems
Built for Strength and Longevity

When your project demands more than a decorative finish, our full Basecoat and Silicone Render System provides a technically superior solution – reinforced, crack-resistant, and built to perform for decades.

A basecoat and silicone render system is a two-stage process. The first stage involves applying a polymer-modified basecoat reinforced with an embedded fibreglass mesh – creating a mechanically strong, impact-resistant layer that bonds firmly to the substrate. The second stage is the application of a decorative silicone topcoat in your chosen colour and texture.

This combined system is more robust than a silicone-only finish and is the preferred solution where walls are uneven, where the existing surface needs significant repair, or where a higher level of performance is required — such as new-build projects, EWI installations, or full external refurbishments.

All systems are installed to BBA-certified and PAS 2030 standards, using manufacturer-approved materials from leading suppliers.

Advantages of a full Basecoat & Silicone System

  • Reinforced fibreglass mesh provides structural strength and impact resistance

  • Eliminates cracking caused by substrate movement

  • Suitable for poor, uneven or failing substrates

  • Compatible with external wall insulation (EWI) boards

  • Flexible silicone topcoat for weather and UV resistance

  • Available in hundreds of colours and grain textures

  • Longer service life than basecoat-only or cement render systems

  • Installed to BBA and PAS 2030 standards

Our 5-Stage Render System Installation

Stage 1

Preparation

We strip any loose, failing or contaminated material from the substrate. Walls are cleaned, cracks filled, and a bonding agent or primer applied as required.

Stage 2

Reinforced Basecoat Layer

A polymer-modified basecoat is applied to the prepared surface. Before it sets, alkali-resistant fibreglass mesh is embedded across the full area — providing tensile strength and preventing cracking.

Stage 3

Primer Coat

A colour-matched primer is applied over the cured basecoat to ensure consistent colour and optimal adhesion for the silicone finish.

Stage 4

Silicone Topcoat

The silicone render is hand-applied in the chosen grain and colour. Multiple quality checks are carried out throughout application.

Stage 5

Finishing & Quality Assurance

Edges are detailed, beads and trims are checked, surrounding areas cleaned down, and a final inspection carried out to manufacturer and BBA certification requirements.

When is a full Basecoat System the right choice?

We recommend the full basecoat and silicone system for new-build projects, properties undergoing EWI installation, homes with significantly cracked or unstable render, refurbishments where a long service life is the priority, and any project where the substrate condition is poor or uneven.

For properties with a sound existing substrate that simply needs a refreshed finish, a silicone-only render may be more cost-effective. Our team will assess your property and recommend the right solution.
