Coloured Render
Transform your home's exterior with the perfect shade
The colour of your render is as important as the system behind it. With hundreds of shades available and finishes that stay true for decades, choosing the right colour can completely transform the character of your home. Our team helps you get it right first time.
Modern silicone render is available in an enormous range of colours – from clean whites and warm creams, to contemporary greys, anthracite, sage green and bold statement tones. Unlike painted render, the colour is integral to the silicone material itself, meaning it won't peel, fade or require repainting over time.
Choosing a render colour isn't just about personal preference. It's about how your property sits within its street, whether your colour choice fits the local planning context, how the finish will look in different lighting conditions, and how it will complement your windows, doors and roof.
At Ace Rendering Specialists, we've applied hundreds of coloured render finishes across Kent and South East London. We can help you choose a colour with confidence and show you real-world examples of similar shades on comparable properties.
Popular Render Colours
White and off-white — the most popular choice for a clean, traditional or contemporary look
Light grey — a modern, versatile option that suits most property types
Anthracite grey — a bold, contemporary finish popular on more modern homes
Warm cream and stone — a softer, more traditional alternative to bright white
Sage green and olive — increasingly popular for properties in rural or village settings
Dark charcoal — a striking choice for properties with strong architectural features
Our full colour range comes from the manufacturer's standard palette. We can provide physical colour samples to view on site before any work begins.
Colour is only part of the story. The texture of your render affects how it looks and how it weathers over time. We offer fine grain (1.0mm – smooth and modern), medium grain (1.5mm – the most popular choice), and coarse grain (2.0mm – a more textured, traditional appearance).

Planning permission
In most cases, changing the render colour of your home does not require planning permission. However, if your property is in a Conservation Area, is a Listed Building, or is bound by specific permitted development restrictions, planning consent may be required before work begins.
How we deliver coloured render
All of our coloured render finishes are delivered using BBA-certified silicone render systems – either as a standalone silicone topcoat on a prepared substrate, or as part of a full Basecoat & Silicone system for properties requiring additional structural performance. Frequently Asked Questions
-
With modern silicone render systems, colour fade is minimal. The pigments used in silicone render are UV-stable and integral to the material itself, so they don't sit on the surface the way paint does. You can expect the colour to remain consistent and vibrant for 20+ years. Cheaper or incorrectly specified systems may show some fading over time, which is why material quality and correct specification matter — we only use BBA-certified products from approved manufacturers.
-
For most residential properties, changing render colour falls within permitted development rights and does not require planning permission. However, if your property is in a conservation area, is a listed building, or has specific permitted development restrictions attached to it, you may need consent before changing the external appearance. We cover areas across Kent and South East London with conservation designations and will advise during the free quote visit if this applies to your property.

White and off-white remain the most popular choice for their clean, classic appearance. Light and mid greys are increasingly common, particularly on more contemporary or recently updated properties. Anthracite grey suits bold, modern homes. Warm stone and cream shades work well on rural and period properties. We can show you real-world examples of similar shades on comparable properties — colour charts and on-screen images rarely give a true representation of how a colour will look on a full exterior.

In most cases, yes — our silicone render range covers hundreds of colours, and we can usually find a close match to an existing finish. For extension or repair work where matching the main house is important, we'll discuss your options during the quote visit and provide physical colour samples to compare on site. An exact match to a very old render or a proprietary colour may not always be possible, and we'll be upfront if that's the case.

Silicone render is available in fine grain (1.0mm — smooth and contemporary), medium grain (1.5mm — the most commonly specified, balancing texture and appearance), and coarse grain (2.0mm — a more pronounced, traditional look). The texture affects both the visual character of the finish and how the colour reads in different lighting conditions. We can show you samples of each texture during the quote visit to help you choose.
