External Wall Insulation, Sidcup, Kent

For this project in Sidcup, our team completed a full external insulation and rendering system on a spacious four-bedroom detached property. The aim was to improve the home’s energy efficiency while transforming its overall appearance with a clean, modern finish.

We began by installing a 50mm EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) insulation system to the exterior walls. This high-performance insulation significantly improves thermal efficiency, helping to reduce heat loss and enhance comfort throughout the home. The EPS also reinforces the façade while remaining lightweight and ideal for residential applications.

Once the insulation was securely fixed and levelled, we applied a Johnstone’s reinforced base coat, incorporating fibreglass mesh to provide additional strength and flexibility. This stage ensured excellent adhesion, surface stability, and long-term crack resistance, creating the perfect foundation for the finishing layer.

To complete the system, we applied a Johnstone’s 1.5mm enhanced silicone render topcoat in the client’s chosen colour. This premium finish offers superior weather resistance, breathability, and a refined, contemporary look, giving the property a sleek and low-maintenance façade.

As part of the renovation, we also installed new window sills and modern downpipes, ensuring a consistent and high-quality finish across every detail of the exterior.

The result is a beautifully upgraded home that combines improved insulation, lasting protection, and a stylish, cohesive appearance that perfectly complements the property’s character.
